Vancouver Fall

I’m trying out a new look for the website. There is still a fair bit of work to do, as not much is yet available besides the photo blog. Hopefully that’ll change in the coming days. For now here’s a photo from the English Bay in Vancouver. Fall here is sure colorful. So colorful in fact that the yellows are coming out a little different than on the actual picture file. Vancouver Fall

This could be anywhere in the world

Unlike the title of that rock song this view couldn’t be anywhere else but Vancouver. After several years in Europe and some other places I’m back to British Columbia, the place I know better than any other in the world. I’ve left and come back here many times over the years, this being my longest time away, and it does feel a little weird coming home. Though maybe it’s just the jet lag 😉 There is however always a little nervousness about it, sort of like seeing an old friend. How long will I stay for? I’m not yet sure. For now it’s family, friends and familiar peaks while I decide on my next step. This scene gives me a nostalgic feeling, so I thought it appropriate to post an HDR retroish version of the photo too 🙂

On a side note I’ve been having some technical difficulties with the website. Over the next few weeks I’ll be moving my host and will possibly try some new things. So if the website is down or looks like a 3 year old built it, don’t panic. It’s just me trying to fix things up.

Waterfront Skytrain Station (HDR)

This is a very ordinary scene, nothing special about it. A regular sight of people waiting for the skytrain at the waterfront station in Vancouver. Yet still a good example of what HDR really does to the photo. If you don’t know what HDR is, I’ve talked about it in one of the older posts with a photo of an old coffee shop in Ghent.

Above are the 3 exposures of the scene (0,-2,+2). None of them on its own truly capture the lighting or the colours of the scene. Combining those together with a bit of more work we get the result below. Much more interesting isn’t it?
