Antwerp(en) Promenade

When I happen to lose myself in photographers’ blogs I often enjoy reading about their thought process before they snap their shot. I sometimes wonder if I should do the same with my posts. But then I realize that at times there isn’t a whole lot of thinking going on before I take my shots. Or at least not in the traditional sense. I don’t usually set up my shots or spend much time thinking about my composition or lighting. That’s not necessarily a good thing, especially considering that I do a lot of HDR. I believe there are times when that would be a very smart thing to do. But I do enjoy the simplicity of not overthinking it and the randomness that comes with it, even if it comes at an expense of having a better photo. Sometimes stoping to think about my shot twice does take away some pleasure.

This is in beautiful Antwerp, Belgium and a good example of one of those thoughtless photos when I just snap what pleases my eye at a particular moment, trying to capture the scene as I see it.

Old house on the canal

I’m gonna move away from the juan de fuca trail and return back to Europe. I really love cities with little canals. Belgium and Netherlands are full of them. Besides all the wonderful people and all, this is one good reason why I love going over to that part of the world. This old house is on the canal in Ghent, Belgium.

More rocks (juan de fuca trail)

You might have noticed on some of the photos from the juan de fuca trail that beaches on the trail are quite rocky. Some parts of these beaches are just completely covered by these big rocks. They’re not very comfortable to walk on but they do add to the beautiful scenery.
