Just like for many people I’ve met my interest to visit Bruges was born after watching a movie called “In Bruges” with Colin Farrell. We may have different taste in movies but I do recommend watching it. Bruges turned out a little different from I expected but it is in some parts just like the movie described it, “a fairy tale” (with an irish accent:). Stone houses of flemish/dutch architecture along the canals, people riding their bikes along the same canals and tiny streets that make you feel like you went back in time. It can get a little surreal sometimes. At least it did for me.

In Bruges
Bruges is sometimes called as “the Venice of the north”. It’s a city with a lot of canals like this one. If you ever get a chance to visit make sure you take the boat ride along some of its canals. The whole city is a UNESCO heritage site and walking along some streets makes you feel like you’ve traveled few hundred years into the past. Right until you get to the central streets with shops that act as a reminder that you haven’t:)
