This was taken from the hill, right in the city, on top of which stands the Ljubljana Castle.

Ljubljana main square panorama
I don’t shoot very often in the dark for whatever reason. I guess I just don’t carry my camera when go out in the evenings, maybe I’m too lazy because it sometimes implies carrying a tripod. This was one time that I did have it with me during a late night walk through Ljubljana. The main square looked so much emptier, more inviting and interesting in a different way so I decided to set up my mini tripod (which got later confiscated in sweden) and took a few shots. I think this was one of my very first panorama shots. It’s a little crooked and I didn’t quite get all of the buildings in but I think it’s still alright. (click on the pic to enlarge)
Occupied
With all the protests going on around the world about economic and social inequality, and one to start soon here in Vancouver, my thoughts today were primarily taken up by this topic. So naturally, as I surfed through virtual folders to choose a pic to post I seemed to be mainly stopping by the pics of homeless or lets say less economically fortunate people.
This guy “occupied” the stairs leading up to the church, in Ljubljana, his disinterested expression and his fixed, almost glued together, frame suggests that he might have been sitting there for a while. I imagine slightly different mood will take place when people “occupy” Vancouver tomorrow.
Ljubljanica
Ljubljanica is the river going through the capital of Slovenia.
My tip to Ljubljana was probably one of the most random and unplanned trips I’ve taken in Europe. I’ve bought my train ticket half a day before the departure to join few of my friends. The annoying 9 hour train ride didn’t hurt my impression of the city. In fact I really enjoyed the city. The river goes through the centre of the city though this isn’t the most central part of it but I still liked the view so I stopped on the bridge to take the shot. This is actually about 9 shots combined together. I try to do a bit of HDR photography but since I never rarely carry a tripod I have to sacrifice some of the HDRness in some parts of my pics due to blurriness. This shot was stable as the camera was sitting on the bridge, so it didn’t turn out too bad.

V in Ljubljana
I randomly came across these guys with masks from the movie “V for Vendetta” just standing in the middle of the square and observing the people around. They’ve been awkwardly starting at some people so I decided to return the favour and stare back:) V for Vendetta is one of my favourite movies so I had to take a pic. It was against the sun but I think it didn’t turn out too bad.
